Elli has been a certified professional trainer since 1988, but he started to ride horses just after he could walk and has not stopped since. At the age of 8 Elli competed at Landsmot in children’s class and got into the A-finals.

Elli has been a very successful rider and trainer. In 1985 he became the Icelandic Champion in tolt in class for 13-16 years old. His track record in competitions is fascinating.

He has been competing at top level for years and has won numerous titles and medals at the Icelandic championships, at Landsmot and in various open competitions as well as at his own horse club. He was in the A-finals at in A-group at the Landsmot in 1998, been at least 3 times in the A-finals in the 5-gaits at the Icelandic championships, won both A and B-group in his horse club Hörður in Mosfellsbær.

Elli also has a vast experience in breeding horse evaluations and worked at the National Stallion Centre for 2 years training Iceland’s best stallions. Elli has ridden numerous 1.prize-breeding horses at evaluations over the years.

Elli has also worked with and for some of Iceland’s best trainers, among them are Þórður Þorgeirsson, Iceland’s most successful breeding horse riders and Sigurbjörn Bárðarson-Diddi.

His easygoing attitude reflects greatly on his training methods. The horses he trains tend to be extremely easy to handle and express self-confident. Combined with years of experience and unbelievable amount of patience have turned Elli into a highly respected trainer. Elli now runs his own horse business at horse club Hörður in Mosfellsbær where he and his wife also run a riding school for children.
