Clinic – Information Clinics can be tailor made for individuals and or for groups. Here below are some ideas of how clinics are structured. Most of the clinics focus on the partnership between the rider and horse and to place emphasis on how tolt is ridden and how the rider can train the tolt. Special clinics for flying-pace are offered by request. In all the clinics riders are helped to develop leadership as riders.
Elli says: No two horses are the same –patience- understanding your horse-leadership and above all good partnership will take you a long way to become a good rider. If the horse is not doing what the rider is asking for, the reason is simple: the horse does not understand what the rider is asking for.
Clinics in groups. Most clinics are arranged for groups, with 4-6 persons in each group. This arrangement means that the number of students can be 12-18 in each clinic. Each lessons in 50 minutes. The first lesson in each clinic for each group is vocational and for participants to introduce their horse and their expectations to the clinician.
Duration of clinics is 1-4 days- most commonly 2 days or 2 ˝ day weekend clinics. Each group gets 2 lessons per day.
Clinics with 1 or 2 persons. Each lesson is 25 minutes. 1 or 2 participants are in each lesson and other participants have the opportunity to audit. The number of students in the clinic can vary from 12-14 persons. Duration same as above. Clinician tries out each horse in the clinic.
Horses evaluated. A participant can have the clinician evaluate his/hers horse prior to the clinic. In that case the clinician will ride the horse 1-2 times and evaluate its gaits, potentials and lay out a training program for the owner of the horse. In this case it is necessary for the owner to take at least 1 private lesson with the clinician after he has evaluated the horse.
Training. If the clinician has the opportunity he offers to train horses for some days prior and after each clinic.
Private lessons: Clinician offers private lessons. Each lesson is 25 minutes
Note: All riding and work with horses in clinics are on the participants own liability. All participants must sign a waver accordingly. Usage of riding helmets is according to rules and regulations in each place.
